The collaboration between Moooi and Arte has produced some of the most exceptional and unique wallcoverings of recent years. Moooi is a Dutch based design brand founded by Marcel Wanders and Casper Vissers and now in its 20th year. The Moooi team have dazzled the world with their innovative and striking design since their inception and there bold and exquisite style can clearly be seen in their second wallcovering collection.

Indigo Macaque

Indigo Macaque is an indigo denim wallcovering with the design picked out in a choice of copper or ivory embroidery. The design itself features Macaques bathing in hot springs, displayed in a traditional Seigaiha pattern of layered concentric circles. The inspiration for the denim comes from the deep blue indigo of the Macaque's fur, as they travelled down the mountains to bathe in the hot springs the colour of the indigo plants would transfer to the primates. The copper and ivory embroidery gives the wallcovering additional texture ensuring the design is captured by the light.

Shoji Blossom

The Shoji Blossom wallcovering brings together two classical Japanese style elements into a single design, pairing cherry blossoms with a straight line design suggestive of a Shoji screen. The short bloom of cherry blossoms is considered representative of the ephemeral nature of life and are prominent in traditional Japanese art. The 3d design of the symbolic cherry blossoms are accentuated by the straight lines resulting in an exquisite tactile wallcovering. Shoji Blossom is available in three colourways an indigo denim (MO3030) or a felted wool in Ivory (MO3031) or Copper (MO3032).

Rendezvous Tokyo Blue

The Japanese inspiration for the Moooi wallcoverings collection is apparent in the Rendezvous Tokyo Blue wallcovering with its exotic flowers, lush forest and playful Macaques dressed in traditional kimonos. The material has a soft velvety finish with denim textures adding to its tactile nature. The wallcovering is available in three colourways Indigo (MO3010), Cashmere (MO3011); and MO3012 (Ming Blue).

Tie-Tami

Woven Japanese Tatami mats provided inspiration for the Tie-Tami wallcovering. The Tie-Tami wallcovering is made from jute and rafia and depicts abstract clouds through the arrangement of the coloured threads, it is available in three colourways Sunset (MO3020), Midday (MO3021); and Sunrise (MO3022).

Lucky O"s

The Lucky O"s wallcovering features a seigaiha-mon pattern, O's are overlapped to create a traditional design of Japanese waves. The waves are symbolic of good luck, power and resilience, hence the reference to Lucky in the wallpaper name. The wallcovering comprises a birch wood veneer marquetry inlay and is offered in 4 colourways Birch and Black (MO3040), Birch and Gold (MO3041); Birch and Silver (MO3042); and Birch and Blue (MO3043).

These luxurious wallcoverings are a fabulous follow up to last year"s Extinct Animal Collection and we can't wait to see what's in store for the next Moooi and Arte collaboration.
